For my project, I wanted to express my deep love for animals through art. I’ve always felt a strong connection to them, and I knew I wanted my work to speak for those who don’t have a voice. One topic that feels especially important—and also very relevant here in Indonesia—is the issue of stray dogs. It’s a problem that affects many communities, and I’ve seen it firsthand: dogs wandering the streets without food, care, or shelter, often ignored or mistreated. I felt the need to respond to this with empathy and awareness.
This painting i wanted to illustrate my own personal experience with stray dogs around Bali. Through the years ive lived in bali weve rescued several dogs, the dogs in the painting are the ones that weve kept. Ive learned from experience with these dogs that each of them have their own personal experience. Some carry deep fear, while others slowly learn to trust again. By painting them, I not only honor their resilience but also hope to show that every stray has a story worth telling, and a life worth saving.
This painting i really wanted to emphasize the reality of the stray dogs in Bali. The original picture was taken in munduk where i was enjoy a walk with my family up in the mountains. In the village we walked there were several dogs extremely skinny, tangled fur and scratched up faces. Their eyes held a mix of caution and longing, a silent reminder of the neglect they endure daily. Through this painting, I hope to shed light on their quiet suffering and encourage more compassion and action toward helping Bali's forgotten animals.
